When you’re planning a wedding in Kansas City, you will quickly realize that the city has no shortage of wedding venues and event spaces! Hooray!
However, with that density in venues to choose from comes a wide range in style, price-point, and quality. Suddenly the sheer amount of wedding venues in Kansas City goes from feeling amazing to feeling daunting. You have a lot of research and a lot of venue tours ahead of you!
If there is anything I can do to make your life just a little bit easier, I want to! So I have done some of the preliminary research for you. I researched dozens of venues in Kansas City and the surrounding areas in Kansas and Missouri. What I ended up with with were seven that I absolutely love! There are certainly more worth looking into, but start with these seven venues and you will not be disappointed.
Here are my favorite venues in the Kansas City area:
This venue is about as industrial as you can get. It features exposed brick walls, metal and mixed media details, and views of the city through large windows. String lights bunted across the ceiling make the space vibey to say the least. Nestled in the Crossroads Arts District, The Bauer does include bride’s and groom’s rooms so you can get ready and say “I do” without leaving the location.
We all know how stunning the Nelson-Atkins is. Not only for its exhibits, but for its architecture as well! Did you know you can book the museum for your wedding, though? Invite your guests to a stately, modern affair hosted in the museum itself, or outdoors on the sculpture terrace. A Nelson-Atkins wedding will exude grandeur and provide unforgettable experience for your friends and family.
The Grand Hall is a two-story auditorium in the interior of the historic Power & Light building. It features extravagant art deco styling, opulent crystal chandeliers, and stately wooden accents. If you are hoping to invite your guests to a wedding in the city that is more classy than anything else, choose The Grand Hall! Perfect for a black-tie affair.
If your dream wedding is a golden-hour event, what more stunning way to do it than on a rooftop? The Stanley offers a rooftop venue, the Aspen Rooftop, perfect for just that! The Aspen Rooftop isn’t just a rooftop venue though. Its hallmark wisteria wall adds an organic element to the experience. The rooftop also comes equipped with strung party lights and is best paired with use of other parts of the venue.
Did she just repeat the same venue again?
No!
Well, kind of. Hear me out!
The Aspen Room is a separate space but also at the Stanley! It’s a little bit darker, so if you love a bourbon and cigars feel, this is the venue for you. I recommend getting in touch with Stanley about touring and considering a reception in the Aspen Room after a ceremony on the Aspen Rooftop.
For those who want to get out of the city or have an inclination toward the outdoors, look no further than Wildcliff. Marriage is a grand adventure, and your wedding ceremony can be too! Set in a historic rock quarry complete with a shimmering lake, Wildcliff is located in Blackwater, Missouri – only 90 miles from Kansas City.
As a wedding photographer in Kansas City, these venues are my personal favorites. But that doesn’t mean they are the only venues worth considering! Your venue is the first thing that sets the tone for your wedding. Take your time looking around, and use these as a starting point. I pray joy and peace over you as you begin your wedding planning experience!
